James Semple blogs about composing the score for TeamTV's "Jen"
Composer James Semple came aboard as the composer of TeamTV's first feature-length production "Jen" at the very beginning of the project. Now, as production of the score is progressing in earnest, and at an incredible pace, James is blogging about the experience, the techniques he is using and how he is making this music work with the film.
This is a fantasitc opportunity both for composers to see how they can work with film and the moving image to create music - and hopefully pick up some tips from a talented individual, but also for filmmakers to look at how they approach music in their projects, and how they can work effectively with composers.
James says on the blog: "I’m currently scoring a feature film and wanted to discuss some of the process that goes into composing and realising the score. A blog seemed like the best idea. I’m going to start with an overview and explain about the kind of musical devices I’m going to use. In further posts I’ll explore some of the scenes in the film and show how these musical devices are used in context."
Many thanks to James for the opportunity to read about this side of the process. Please take a moment to look at his site, and the blog.
